Hillcrest Elementary is multicultural and multilingual elementary school located in southeast San Francisco. Their mission is to engage students to become enthusiastic lifelong learners who will make positive contributions to their families and their communities.

The Two Friends Foundation has supported the following programs:

  • Family Engagement Coordinator: this role is critical in the wrap-around support model for students and families through the programs below:

    • “Know your Rights” family immigration workshops in collaboration with Instituto Familiar de la Raza and community attorneys from Santa Maria Law Firm.

    • “Everyone Reads” summer program family reading

    • “Parents as Partners” relationship building between teachers and caregivers.

  • Food Corps - teaching outdoor gardening and science

  • Reading Partners - Provides reading intervention tutoring for up to 60 or so students that are at least 1 year behind academically.

MLK Middle school / bayview hunters point ymca BEACON LEADERSHIP - - - san francisco, ca

The Beacon offers extended learning, behavioral health and wellness, academic transitions, and family partnership programming. It is one of the first models of communities and schools working in partnership, closing the gap between schools and community needs to achieve positive outcomes for our youth, families and communities.

The Two Friends Foundation has supported the following Beacon programs:

  • Flag Football & Student Success Advocate

    • Providing structure for accountability and a goal toward growing student responsibility for their own success through mentoring and sports.

    • Junior Coaches - middle school and high school students that act as peer mentors/accountability partners and assist SSA with academic support.

    • Official after school sport of SFUSD as of the 2019/2020 academic year

  • COVID 19 - Beacon response/initiatives for community support:

    • Student Health assessments - stress level surveys to help inform YMCA/Beacon summer programs: journaling and virtual guest speakers.

    • YMCA/Beacon leadership calling all families to check in and provide resources as needed.

The Radical Monarchs create opportunities for young girls of color to form fierce sisterhood, celebrate their identities and contribute radically to their communities. Founded as a scouting troop alternative, they work to develop future leaders by offering merit badges for activism.

The Two Friends Foundation has supported the following programs:

  • Annual Alumni Retreat

  • Disability accommodations - adaptive equipment for education experiences in classrooms/workshops, excursions, and gatherings.

BOTHE-NAPA VALLEY STATE PARK, CALISTOGA, CA

Bothe-Napa Valley State Park serves the community by offering educational nature hikes, swimming pool/lodging access, camp sites, summer camps and a running/working historic mill with interpretive guides.

The Two Friends Foundation has supported the following programs:

  • Mill tours and transportation for school field trips

  • Outdoor Education / summer camp

  • El Dia del Molino & Dia de los Ninos - Latino heritage and historical celebration, dedicated kids activities day.
